Purple Samsung i900 Omnia Reloaded announced in Italy

A new color version of the Samsung i900 Omnia has been announced in Italy. The color is purple and the name is also changed to Omnia Reloaded.

Specs wise, the device stays identical to the original Omnia, sporting Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of Windows Mobile 6.1, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 5 megapixel camera, HSDPA connectivity and more. The trick is in the software – the Omnia Reloaded adds new customizable widgets to the mix:

  • New social networking app
  • SecurityRed – a Web-based service that lets users remotely manage their phone
  • Try’n Play – mobile games store

As I said, other than software changes, we’re talking about the same device. That being said, we hope Samsung will make new widgets available to the existing Omnia users through a firmware update. On the same note, I bet some users in countries other than Italy would also appreciate to have the Omnia in purple.

In the meantime, Italians who read IntoMobile may want to know when they will be able to grab the new device and how much it costs. Samsung will start selling the Omnia Reloaded during this month for 469 EUR (about $600). That’s the price of an unlocked phone, without any other contracts signed…
