Nokia 5800 XpressMusic gets its first major update; Firmware version reaches 20.0.0.12

Just when we reported that the minor firmware upgrade has been released for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, the Finnish giant released a new update, this time much larger. Although there is no official change log, AllAboutSymbian’s Rafe Blandford and Steve Litchfield managed to identify some of the changes:

Geo-tagging information is now available in Camera
New applications added: Dictionary (as seen on E66 and E71) and App. update for updating individual Nokia apps outside of firmware upgrades (as seen on N85 and N79)
Overall performance is improved – screen rotations are faster and apps run smoother, most notable example is Gallery
Flash playback is faster with less hickups in S60 Browser
Standby “Search” is updated to search for both phone content and the Internet

Aside from the visible changes mentioned above, Nokia also fixed some of the known bugs to make the device as stable as possible. The update should be already available, although firmware availability usually varies by market and variant. The easiest way to proceed is via over-the-air update on a WiFi connection. Before doing so, we advise you to backup the device despite the fact the Tube supports UDP.

Every one is entitled fro the firmware update, although new firmware availability varies by region. So if you still haven’t notice a new firmware being available in PC Suite, it’s coming soon. Patience, my friend.

I am also facing the sudden screen colour change issue in my set.The display looses one of the RGB colours suddenly as if there is a loose contact. It resumes the normal colour in 2-5 seconds.

…oh Yeah and one other “new” feature after the update: Now I can choose to use the number 2 camera (vid. call cam.) from the cam options list. Before this it didn’t even appear in there, ie. it was unable to be used! Now it’s there, I can finally admire my gorgeous face (muhaha).

I have Xpressmusic Blue and the updates seem to backfire specially on the bluetooth.
Originally out of the box came with version 10 so worked with BMW 530 and 750 with limited capability and no access to phone book. Problem was screen freezing while browsing.
Ver 11 fixed the freezing improved the Bluetooth functionaity to full blast for the 750 but killed the connectivity to the 530 as it pairs for 45 seconds then disconnect and back and forth.
Ver 20 did not fix the problem and did not do much for me.
Yahoo email address works with the 3G account and NOT with WiFi.
Please Nokia fix thee poblems.

hai i bought nokia 5800 in last 2 month ago now i am update version is 11.0.008 when i go to update in new version 20. it shows 120mb downloading but i am still yet to download.but today my nokia pc suit shows new version to download size is 28mb.whats the problem.ple reply me

Hello Kumar and hellosuny, I am too facing the colur fading / one of the RGB colur missing issue once in a while. I am on the latest firmware, how about you? It started after I updated the firmware, also had my phone serviced for the earpiece problem.

I have 5800 XpressMusic , I cannot update version!! It is still V21.0.025! When i try to update it is giving a message ‘No updates found’, can anyone help me to update my version??

What to do further ?? its keep on giving the same message..
