Nokia: bit-side acquisition is a done deal!

Wow, this was quick. It was two weeks ago, on January 27th, when we first learned Nokia wants to acquire Berlin-based bit-side and now it’s a done deal. Obviously sentences like “subject to customary closing conditions” doesn’t mean much or there is no that much hassle involved when acquiring smaller companies.
Anyway, all of bit-side’s 39 employees are now working for Nokia (NYSE: NOK) and along with the Finnish giant’s staff, they are set to “strengthen and accelerate” the further development of Nokia Maps. In that sense, we wish them good luck. After all, we all want to see better mobile navigation/location-based software on our handsets, right?
