Nokia App Store

File this under “we’re almost sure it’s true,” but since we haven’t heard anything official from Nokia (NYSE: NOK), it still needs to go to our “rumors” section. Apparently, the Finnish giant will be joining the likes of Apple (NSDQ: AAPL), Google (NSDQ: GOOG), RIM and now even Samsung to launch its application store. We should have all the answers within a week at the Mobile World Congress.

According to Eldar Murtazin, Nokia is in the final stages of testing the store in a closed mode. Here’s what he says about it:

At first glance, for now, the app portal looks so so, there is some confusion. But they are trying, polishing it and a lot has changed for the better in a matter of days. A right step in a right direction… And the distribution and revenue sharing model between app makers and Nokia looks very attractive.

Way to go Nokia, it’s good to see you jumping on board as well. The built-in “Download!” app needed tons of improvements and a dedicated app store is a way to go. Can’t wait to see this in action in Barcelona. ;)
