cybernuts O2UK creates childrens story book for safe InterWeb use

O2 (NYSE: TEF) has team up with Childnet International to publish a new book called ‘who wnts 2 no?’ It’s fun, it’s educational and it’s written by two best selling children’s authors.

The book, created by Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore, is about three school friends known as the Cybernuts, Dud, Zip and Mouse. Dud thinks he has found a foolproof way of getting rich quick by giving away his personal details online, but Zip and Mouse aren’t convinced. As well as featuring big evil aliens the book also contains a more serious message that whilst the online world can bring benefits, children can be at risk from unwanted contact, inappropriate behaviour and potentially harmful content.

O2 should be applauded for this kind of initiative, I think – more and more we hear stories of the adverse effects of the InterWeb on children (granted, the parents and guardians have a duty of care too…), and so it’s good to see a positive process being put in place.

The book is available free to schools and libraries – head to o2.com/thecybernuts to find out more.
