ViewRanger brings topographic maps to Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Popular outdoor GPS navigation software, ViewRanger, is now available for the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 5800 XpressMusic and other upcoming Symbian S60 touchscreen mobile phones (i.e. N97). As expected, the application is fully optimized to work with the 5800’s touchscreen to “put detailed topographic maps at your fingertips.”

ViewRanger is a sophisticated but easy-to-use off-road satellite navigation application that offers instant access to detailed topographic mapping across Europe along with rich content including points-of-interest and leisure route guides. Maps can be downloaded directly to the handset via WLAN or mobile internet, downloaded via the web to be side-loaded onto a handset, or are available pre-loaded on SD memory-cards.

ViewRanger allows easy manipulation of the topographic maps and also boasts the company’s unique 3D Panoramic Viewpoint maps where available.

Maps can be dragged, routes and points-of-interest selected, and key features are available, literally, at your fingertips. Additionally, ViewRanger has also a growing library of navigable leisure route guides, for which they’ve partnered with content publishers — Walkingworld.com with its 4,500 detailed and illustrated walking guides across the UK is on board…

Enough said. More information is available from a dedicated website.
