Sierra Wireless introduces first HSPA+ USB modemsSierra Wireless is expanding its portfolio of USB modems with the addition of USB 306 and USB 307. Unlike their earlier devices, the new modems are designed to work on HSPA+ networks, supporting download speeds of 21 Mbps and upload speeds at 5.76 Mbps.

Specs wise, two modems are identical with only difference being in operating frequencies. The USB 306 is designed for North American and Asia-Pacific regions, operating on the 850, 1900 and 2100 MHz bands; while the USB 307 is slated for Europe, operating on the 900 and 2100 MHz bands.

As with other Sierra’s USB modems, these two also feature the company’s TRU-Install software that loads the device drivers and Sierra Wireless Watcher connection manager software onto the computer the first time the USB modem is plugged in. Additionally, both models boast a microSD memory card slot and both are expected to ship within the first half of this year.
