If you’re hoping for a 12-megapixel Samsung cameraphone at MWC… don’t

You can go ahead and stop holding your breath now. Despite varied speculation hinting at a 12-megapixel cameraphone from Samsung rearing its head at Mobile World Congress, word on the street is that Samsung won’t be bringing any mega-megapixel cameraphones to Barcelona. Telecoms Korea cites “a source familiar with Samsung’s internal marketing plans” in their report that Samsung will be holding off on launching their 12-megapixel beast for just a bit longer.

The news comes on the heels of Samsung’s announcement that Android-powered handsets would be delayed until we’ve ticked off half of the boxes on our yearly calendar. Leak after leak had us believing that Samsung might rock MWC with the 12-megapixel shooter-phone, but today those hopes have been dashed. At least we can look forward to the UltraTOUCH S8300.

Still, you’re more than welcome to keep the hope alive in your own corner of the mobile world. After all, a handset announcement is really at the sole discretion of the manufacturer.
