Samsung’s Blue Earth Charges, Tans By Sun

Okay, maybe not tan, but Samsung’s newly-announced Blue Earth will indeed be solar-powered and on top of saving power with rear-mounted cells, the device itself is made of recycled PCM plastic (ie bottles). As for the UI, it will feature a pedometer and tell you how much CO₂ you’re not using by driving, and thus how many trees you’re saving by walking.  If you’re worried about not being able to keep everything powered strictly by solar, there will be a one-click Eco button which will reduce power usage overall, and let you really wring every last watt out of your battery.  Motorola’s Renew was built on the same super-green principal, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a few more handsets at Mobile World Congress trying to rope in a few more environmentally-minded consumers.
