Looks like if you’re running the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Storm on Verizon (NYSE: VZ), you can download a new version of Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Maps that puts the Storm’s internal GPS to work! After installation, Google Maps will be able to pull ‘My Location’ data via GPS, providing much more accuracy.

Verizon BlackBerry Storm users should simply go to m.google.com/maps from your Berry to get the latest version of Google Maps. After install, pop it open and bask in the improved accuracy that GPS provides! Do let us know what you think of the new version with full GPS for the Verizon BlackBerry Storm… That is, if you do install. Am curious to know just how much more accurate the app will be.

    Jose,
I had the same problem, it was only giving a 1400 meter approximation. However I fixed it by going into the main menu of the device and to options (wrench icon) -> Advanced-> GPS and change the ‘GPS Services’ to ‘Location On’.

This value was left to E911 only by default for me. After changing to Location On, Google Maps spotted me perfectly
