blackberryscope BlackBerry Scopes Help Take Terrible Pictures at Extreme Range

The Storm and the new Curve made decent headway for RIM’s cameras by getting the bump up to 3.2 megapixels, but considering we’re looking at handsets with 12 megapixel-cameras, putting a giant telescoping zoom lens on a BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) just seems hilarious – even moreso for the Bold which clocks in at a meagre 2 megapixels. To be fair, the 6X zooming lens is available for many other phones (like the G1, EXPERIA and Touch HD), it’s just the mounting mechanism that’s different. That might make good manufacturing sense to use the same part over and over, but couldn’t they at least put it on a handset that’s worth the scope? C905? Renoir? Anything? Even in those cases, this thing would be pretty awkward to lug around, and it might just be simpler to carry around a point-and-shoot. Would anyone out there be willing to try this out?
