FCC clears HTC Magic!

sapphire label fcc 300x266 FCC clears HTC Magic! Before the HTC Magic can hit US retail channels as the spiritual kinsman to the T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) G1, it’s going to have to get the blessing of the wireless frequency-stewards over at the US FCC. So, with the approval of the European HTC Magic, we’re well on our way to welcoming a new Android OS-powered handset to the US of A.

FCC docs make no mention of any 1700Mhz frequency support in the HTC Magic that recently made its way through the regulator’s testing labs. T-Mobile relies on the 1700Mhz AWS spectrum to deliver its 3G services, and we know that T-Mobile is a lock as the US carrier to debut the Magic (G2). So, it stands to reason that the HTC Magic passed by the FCC is an international variant with Europe-friendly 2100Mhz frequency support. Of course, we could see the HTC Magic hitting AT&T (NYSE: T)’s network, but that’s just speculation.

The US waits for the launch of the T-Mobile G1 and its on-screen keyboard and sleeker (compared to the homely G1) styling…
