After we saw the LG Versa handset with its de/attachable QWERTY keyboard being unboxed in the wild, Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless decided it’s about time to go all official with it. And here it is, all in its large touchscreen glory with that “sizzling, animated 3D interface.” Let’s go through specs, shell we:
- 3-inch WQVGA (480×240 pixels) touchscreen, 262K colors
- External screen (only available on the QWERTY keypad attachment) is 0.94-inch monochrome OLED, 56×120 pixels
- 2-megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash and image editor
- 3G connectivity support (EV-DO Rev. A)
- Media player, works with V CAST Music with Rhapsody and V CAST Video services
- GPS receiver, works with VZ Navigator
- Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR
- Mobile IM, email, web, threaded messaging
- 2.5mm headset jack
- microSD memory card slot
- 1,100 mAh battery that provides up to 290 minutes of talk time and up to 430 hours of standby time
- Size wise, the LG Versa measures 4.16×2.07×0.54 inches and has a weight of 3.81 ounces
Interested? Verizon will start selling Versa beginning March 1st for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year contract.

I see a lot of similarities between the LG Versa and an iPhone, but I must say I love the idea behind a detachable QWERTY keyboard. My current Verizon Wireless phone has a QWERTY keyboard which I have grown to love so it’s something I would look for in another phone. Ironically, the phone I have is also an LG phone so it might be time for a trade-in.

The LG Versa is awesome, and it compares well with the iphone and blackberry storm too:
