iphone-3g-mobilyThe iPhone 3G, almost a year old since its launch in 2008, is still grabbing headlining attention around the world. Sure, there are more attractive and powerful handsets coming down various product pipelines. But, there’s just something about the Apple Phone’s sleek lines and sexy UI that make it one highly sought-after cellphone. So much so that 25,000 iPhone 3GS flew off the shelves in a matter of hours during Saudi wireless carrier Mobily’s launch of the iPhone 3G!

Despite difficulties handling Arabic text and web pages, the iPhone 3G has stirred up the kind of frenzy in Saudi Arabia that only Apple can. Issues with Arabic language rendering will “be rectified and introduced within three months,” according to ArabianBusiness.

Mobily is pushing their iPhone 3G through 500 retail and affiliate channels in Saudi Arabia, with Etisalat bringing the heralded multi-touch handset to iPhone 3G hopefuls in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Saudi Arabian iPhone 3G will apparently be sold with post-paid contracts as well as on a pre-paid plan, which may have attributed to the mobile phone’s launch-day success.
