vodafone-logo21Vodafone NZ has said it plans to finish it’s 3G rollout to a level of 95% coverage by the end of May – a full year ahead of schedule! Well someone has sure got good project managers!! :-)

On the infrastructure duties this time are Nokia Siemens Networks – with their quality, and Vodafone’s 900Mhz spectrum, it should bode well for coverage in the more rural areas (the low(er) frequency means a more persisting signal, due to longer wavelength…)

I’m sure it won’t be long before see news about a second-tier network upgrade occurring, to take the network to 3.5G, and then to HSPA+…. New Zealanders had better get ready for some serious wireless data speeds! Of course like with all things, the data rates you get depend on the cell contention ratio, but you gotta start somewhere – so hats off to Vodafone NZ for getting on with things, and doing it fast!

As a result he has a broad and deep knowledge in numerous areas of Mobile – from network operators to device vendors, to infrastructure and middleware vendors (not to mention content delivery) – and has worked for companies in all of these areas! He is based in the UK, a hotbed of activity for mobile, and recently became a father for the second time – as oppose to in his younger years when he was happy spend time tweaking all manner of mobile devices to 'nth' degree, he now looks for services and hardware that provide the most efficient, compact, and reliable improvements to his already manic life! It’s his opinion that Mobile solutions should be there to help to make your life better – if a particular solution (be it service or device) isn’t doing this, he believes you need to ask the very important question of why you continue to use it...
