HTC Dream coming to Orange France for 99 EUR!

The HTC Magic may be coming in April, but for Google (NSDQ: GOOG) lovin’ French there’s the HTC Dream which will reportedly go on sale on March 5th. Interested users will be able to grab the full QWERTY AZERTY keyboard-equipped, Android-powered smartphone for 99 EUR on a two-year contract. Unfortunately, it’s not just any contract but the so called “Origami Star Plus” plan, which costs 42 EUR per month.

In related news, other French carrier, SFR, will bring the HTC Magic to the country since there’s no Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) around. This will happen few months later, leaving tons of space for Orange to pride itself as the “first GPhone carrier” in the country.

Any French in audience? Will you grab any of the two?

  1. French prosumers are fed up with the three operators that avoid all competition and a government that has done all it could to prevent a 4th one of getting a 3G licence.

42 eur/month is expensive, and since a few weeks Orange is applying a 500MB or 1GB hard limit (or paid extra) where others either do nothing or simply cap speed ’til the next bill… Offers are getting worse over time!

Though, at the moment, since law here permits people of buying phone without a plan bundle and optionally unlocked, we don’t know the “nude” price, and it’ll probably be 4 or 5 times the 99 eurobucks !

    (PS: it’s 149€ minus a 50€ mail-coupon rebate, not simply 99€)

Orange France and Tim Italy subscribers do not have access also to the Android Market!?!

Looks like as users we have to get developers to upload applications to global marketplaces like SlideME.org
Why aren’t developers aware of this?

Wish I could order it with a QWERTY keyboard but they keep telling me than can’t order it for me. I wonder if I order it myself if it will work?
