Syncing the iPhone 2.x with a Linux computer

Although Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s iPhone 2.0 firmware update generally killed wireless syncing with Linux, efforts have been made to resurrect the functionality. As expected hackers won, allowing all Linux fans around the world to comfortably sync their iPhones with PCs.
Before you hop over to get all the details, you should know that a jailbroken device is required and so is the OpenSSH app (available through Cydia). Once that’s on place, follow all the steps provided on the Ubuntu Forums community.
From what I can tell, it’s not super easy, but then again not too hard for any die hard Linux fan. Here’s a link with all the details, step-by-step instructions and more. Good luck!

Meh, it’s still a huge hassle. I tried for a while, but instead of struggling with it, I just sold my iPhone and picked up an unlocked G1. It used to be the case that when you bought an Apple product, it was the easiest one to use, but the iPhone has been nothing but a hassle. The G1 has been a lot easier to use, it has more actually useful applications available for it, and I can easily use it with Linux.
