Windows Marketplace for Mobile Icon Looks Strikingly Similar to ‘The Android Bag’

The upcoming ‘Windows Marketplace for Mobile’ no doubt has all of the Win-Mo fans in a tizzy. Wanting to get on their own version of an App Store has to be exciting, and so should the store’s icon be as well… right? Fun, exciting, unique!? Well, perhaps not unique at all. Over the past day or so I’ve been reading reports of bloggers mostly bashing Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) for their ‘bag’ logo representing their new app store. One has to agree, it does ‘look’ like a revised version of the Android Market bag icon. It does have a nice windowsy feel to it though, I’ll give it that.
Take it for what it’s worth… I can’t wait for Nokia (NYSE: NOK), Palm (NSDQ: PALM) and RIM to all release their own ‘bag’ icons for their own on-device app stores. In fact, from this point forward I think we should make it mandatory that App Stores come complete with a bag logo. Sound good?

i think the icon of ’shopping bag’ has been quite generic like the AT&T MEdia Mall at http://content.modaco.net/tilt/4.png.

i agree with YH Kwon. the two icons don’t look alike at all.
