versa-game-padThe LG Versa’s claim to fame is its modular design. As a slate-based touchscreen handset, the LG Versa is a dandy little mobile phone. But, click in the detachable QWERTY keyboard and you’ve got yourself a text-messaging powerhouse. Then, when you’re in the mood for a bit of entertainment, you can click in the gaming pad and have at it with some hopefully cool mobile games. Or, there’s always the option of attaching stereo speakers to the Versa and rocking out to your favorite tunes.

Unfortunately, the LG Versa is only available with a detachable QWERTY keyboard. Verizon and LG have been touting the Versa’s modular design and all the add-on goodies that will be available, so it’s only a matter of time before they get real. The game-pad module, WiFi unit and stereo speaker attachments are expected to be available soon. In fact, the gaming pad might be launched as soon as April 1!

PhoneArena is speculating that Verizon Wireless will be launching the new LG Versa gaming pad next month. Expected to be available for $29, the Versa game-pad features an 8-way directional pad and all kinds of gaming buttons. The gaming module clips onto the Versa and can be tucked-away when not in use.

Interestingly, the gaming module isn’t made by LG, but by a third-party. We’re going to have to wait and see if LG out-sourced the manufacture of their other modules as well. In the meantime, April 1 is just a couple handfuls of days away!
