vodafone logo Vodafone Qatar turns on networkVodafone Qatar has now thrown the switch on it’s new network, adding an initial 100 customers, followed by another 900 today. The actual network turn-on occurred on March 1, but since then Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) has been adding tranches of customers who where selected via special promotions.

Apparently the feedback from the first 100 users is excellent, even though they are only receiving a calls-and-text service currently – however the plan is to change that in the coming weeks, with a full-scale service offering.

The full commercial switch-on should apparently come July-August time – at which point Vodafone can add another country to it’s already burgeoning list of Operations.

  1. John Kinn says:

Nice, but watch out for roaming charges in Qatar with Voda.

If you are a Voda cusomter visiting Qatar use a global SIM such as GeoSIM (www.globalsimcard.co.uk) to limit the charges.

  2. Ashes says:

Vodafone Qatar is very nice, useful and economic to make
International Calls in cheap rates. But some networks like Nepal,
India, Srilanka are always busy and we can not make call to these
destinations whenever we want. Qatar Vodafone service department
has to immediately solve this probleb.
    Thanks.
