Bharti Airtel restructures

Bharti Airtel is apparently going to restructure in the next month or so, as it looks beyond just voice for revenues. Further divisions are being expected in the company’s business units to encompass things like m-commerce, the InterWeb, and SMEs. Bharti also has a Broadcast TV division, which apparently may be spun off into a separate unit also.
Bharti is India’s leading Operator – and when the No. 1 guy states that they are going to do something major like this, they have a major expansion plan on-tap and ready to go! It makes perfect sense to segment each of the business units, so long as the synergies are not lost between them – at the end of the day, the customer expects a combined package, and won’t be interested in whether one department can speak to another to organise it!
But I’m sure that Bharti have all this and more figured out, and subscribers in India will be able to expect a plethora of new services soon!
