Contxts just launched a cool new free service where you can send all of your contact information to someone via SMS – no need to worry about business cards anymore! It’s super easy to do, even if they don’t have an account. Either:

  1. You send an SMS with “send [recipient's 10-digit phone number]” to 50500
  2. Your contact sends an SMS “[your username]” to 50500 on their phone, and you get a request to confirm, after which they get your details.

Dirt easy. Save paper, time, and energy. After MWC and CES, handling all those business cards the day after has become a serious chore for me – maybe contxts will be worth a shot for CTIA Wireless coming up in a couple of weeks… It’s just a shame it doesn’t work outside of the U.S. Bah.

Label me a cynic, but I forsee thousands of tons of junk mail in the future of everyone using this service – you will be sending all of your contact information through a third-party, and of course they’re going to copy/sell it.
