Next-gen iPhone may feature video camera!

It’s kind of sad that we get excited when we hear that a ubiquitous smartphone feature such as video recording will finally be available on an iPhone. Just about every other smartphone on market can record video (some at HD resolutions), but the iPhone and iPhone 3G are not part of that bunch. Nonetheless, we’re excited to hear that a next-generation iPhone will feature a higher-resolution camera capable of capturing video.
AppleInsider cites an “extremely reliable” source in speculating that new iPhone hardware will sport an upgraded rear-facing camera that finally bring video-recording capabilities to the iPhone. The rumor falls in line with a recently discovered reference to “Video Publishing” in the upcoming iPhone 3.0 OS . If true, Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) may debut video recording as part of a new, possibly higher-end, iPhone model in mid-2009.
Apple last year previewed their then-unreleased iPhone 2.0 OS to the public prior to launching the new iPhone OS software alongside the new iPhone 3G hardware. That sets the stage, quite literally, for Apple to launch new hardware alongside the iPhone 3.0 OS platform.
Over the past few months, we’ve seen references to at least two new iPhone models that are expected to boast significantly different (upgraded) hardware from the iPhone or iPhone 3G. Whereas the iPhone and iPhone 3G are considered variants of each other – the iPhone bears the model name iPhone1,1 and the iPhone 3G is referred to as the iPhone1,2 – we’ve been hearing of references to significantly different iPhone hardware – iPhone2,1 and iPhone 3,1. Any one of these rumored iPhone devices could feature a video camera.
Will Apple debut new iPhone hardware with video camera in tow? Time will tell.

Iphone may one day do this, do those and so what?
I dislikes too many news about iphone, and iphone and apple make anything just, and realy just you pay something. Ok, everybody needs services and products, but apple and iphone is the most expensive, limited and less effective.
I thing buy this is really stupid.
Wow, Video Recording!
What next? Perhaps multi-tasking using background apps?
The innovation is really happening at Apple!
Soon apple will innovate a new thing… there are already rumors about it… a qwerty keyboard!!
/sarcasm
The reason why they will not allow backgroud apps to run, is because of battery life issues. It simply kills any battery life in the iphone/itouch. So, i dont see this changing anytime soon. I personally would like to see a built in bluetooth. With the number of cities now requiring hands free phone useage. It is very hard to use your iphone in the car. Right now only 3rd pary bluetooths that plug into the bottom of the phone is available.
