And, now that is has, T-Mobile is offering a new 3G data solution – the T-Mobile webConnect 3G modem.

The last major national US carrier to go live with a 3G network has just launched their first 3G USB modem. The T-Mobile webConnect 3G modem connects to your laptop via USB and pulls down 3G data at up to HSPA speeds – as long as the network is up to the task. The webConnect modem brings the No. 4 US wireless carrier up to speed with the Top 3 in terms of mobile broadband connectivity.

T-Mobile’s webConnect 3G modem will surf wireless data networks around the world using its tri-band GSM/EDGE/HSPA (1900/1700/2100Mhz) radio or WiFi radio, so you’re sure to find a compatible wireless network almost anywhere in the world. But, in the US, we have a feeling that the Huawei-made webConnect is going to see more than its fair share of GPRS/EDGE data speeds as T-Mobile works to fill in the gaps in their 3G network.

T-Mobile is offering the webConnect 3G modem for $49.99 after two-year contract and rebate or for $249.99 free and clear of any wireless commitments. T-Mobile is offering 5GB of data for $59.99 a month.

Look for the T-Mobile webConnect USB modem in select retail stores and online.
