Vodafone confirms deal with Twitter
By Ben Robinson on Monday, March 30th, 2009 at 12:40 PM PST In UK News, Vodafone
Following on from my post the other day, it’s now official, and Electricpig.co.uk has confirmed it (thanks Ben!) – if you are on Vodafone (NYSE: VOD), you’ll now be able to send and receive tweets for free.
Going forward, the sending of tweet-texts will become part of your bundle, but for the first few weeks at least, its all free. Receiving will be permanently free – which kinda breaks the concept that it’s better to give than receive, because giving costs
The shortcode to text your Twitter SMS updates is apparently 86444, but before you get in to that bunch-a-shenanigans, you need to activate your number on Twitter. For those not on Voda (like me), we can also be hopeful of some tweet-love over the coming months – let’s hope sooner rather than later
