Finland’s Sonera to enhance its turbo 3G network this year

This year, Finland-based mobile operator, Sonera (part of TeliaSonera) will speed up the build-out of its high-speed mobile network. The plan is to enhance the existing turbo 3G network currently serving about 250 towns and localities, to additional 100 new places. As a result, more than 1,000 new base stations will be introduced, with the significant part of those to be based on the 900 MHz frequency, which can serve a larger coverage area.
Moreover, Sonera will continue its build-out programme in 2010 and 2011 depending on the market situation and service demand. The carrier will offer a range of 900 MHz-compatible mini laptops, USB modems, and several phone models…
