Windows Mobile 6.5’s designer themes unveiled!

By Will Park on Monday, April 6th, 2009 at 7:34 PM PST In Announcements, Photos, Windows Mobile

As part of Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT)’s push, together with the Design Museum London and Council of Fashion Designers of America, to bring designer-label themes to Windows Mobile 6.5, Redmond has apparently recruited a slew of world-renowned designers to craft designer themes for the Windows Mobile 6.5 UI. If Isaac Mizrahi’s WM6.5 theme doesn’t float your boat, Microsoft is betting that its A-list team of designers will have something that will fit your fancy.

Microsoft’s latest Windows Mobile 6.5 build has leaked out on xda-developers, and apparently comes bundled with the designer themes we’ve been dying to see. The themes come from top designers Ron Arad, Vera Wang, Rock and Republic and Diane von Fürstenberg – the range of designers is reflected in the variety of themes we see here. At the risk of sounding too eager for Windows Mobile 6.5, we can’t wait to try out the designers themes on WM6.5.

Of course, you don’t have to limit yourself to just one designer theme. Windows Mobile 6.5 will come bundled with all sorts of free designer themes from which to choose.

Don’t judge us when we match our WinMo theme to the day’s outfit.

i think its a dumb idea, a theme is nothing but a theme, it would only change the background image but not the interface which really needs some work. I dont think windows is not addressing the issue properly

I only see one theme and seven wallpapers. Get your terminology right.

WM6.5 has the worst UI of any OS out there. The file browser is complete mess, and the whole thing is not only ugly, but also much more difficult to navigate than the previous versions. If this is how MS competes with Apple and Android, they might as take a vacation, or move into another line of business, because they design efforts don’t amount to much.
