Sony Ericsson W205 Walkman

Sony Ericsson is out with a new Walkman phone. The so called W205 is an entry-level device, designed for first-time mobile phone buyers. Specs wise, there’s a 1.8-inch 128×160 pixels screen, dual-band GSM/GPRS radio, Bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel camera with 2.2x digital zoom (you can take both photos and videos with it), FM radio, TrackID, multiple phone books, 5MB of internal memory that is further expandable with Memory Stick Micro (M2) cards. As for the size, the W205 measures 92x47x16.4 mm, and has a weight of 96 grams.

Two versions of the phone will be available – the “standard” for the markets of Europe and Asia, supporting 900 and 1800 MHz bands; and the W205a for the Americas, which works on 850 and 1900 MHz frequencies. Release date is set for Q3 2009, when interested users will be able to grab it in “Ambient Black.”

Along with the new Walkman phone, Sony Ericsson also unveiled its new portable speakers. The so called MS410 Snap-on Speaker Stand is attached to the bottom of the phone (using the “unique sliding mechanism” to fit all Walkman phones) and also integrates an FM radio antenna, eliminating the need to attach headsets, as well. It should start selling in “selected markets” starting from the second quarter of this year.
