What’s the surest sign of an impending device launch? Months and months of rumors and speculation? Well, that’s usually the case… But another good sign is when accessories start showing up for the device. Even though the Palm Pre hasn’t launched yet, I’m starting to notice accessories make their pretty appearance on the web, case in point the Palm Pre Holster manufactured by AGF.

The holster will protect all of your Pre’s goodness as soon as you can get your hands on it. The hinge in the holster actually opens up outwards, so that you can take a peek at the display without having to take the device out of its hiding spot. Very cool. The holster is 100% plastic and promises superior protection. The hinging door on the holster is also completely clear, so you can be sure that everyone in your immediate vicinity knows… yeah… that’s a Palm Pre… Nice isn’t it?

Look for Sprint to sell this one for somewhere around $29.99 when the time comes.

From 1 to 10 (10 being best in class), I would give this a 4.

2 very big complaints I can’t get over.

First, the Pre rattles in the holster as you move around. It’s not kept snug in the holster.

Second, if you do anything more than just a casual walk or sit, the Pre can pop out because the plastic cover can easily come unclipped from the clip tab at the top of the holster. Very weak construction. Can easily get snagged and if you wear your phone oriented sideways, your phone easily pops out and land on the ground. Lucky for me, when this happened to me, I was on a baseball field and it landed softly on grass.

I’m going to return mine and wait for a better design.

I returned my holster for the same reason as the first poster. It kept popping open and it rattled when I walk.

When I returned it the Sprint employee said that they have been told to pull them from the shelves because they are recalling them.

This holster is horrible!!!! A big waste of money if you ask me. I prefer holsters cause in my opinion, they generally hold and display the phone better. With this one, I was wrong. On the second day of owning this holster it malfunctioned and broke my pre. I was walking down stairs near my office and the latch popped open and the phone went tumbling to the ground. Its a horrible design that should be recalled asap. My opinion at least. If you disagree, i would love to send you the holster free of charge and let you make your own decision. feel free to keep the holster as well, I have no need for such crap

This is a HUGE waste of $30 dollars. I can’t believe something this terrible was actually put out to sell – what a rip off!!!!!!!! I can’t even walk without this thing making my phone pop out – it’s caused my phone to fall twice while walking and now my palm pre looks ugly >: ( I do not recommend this to anybody at all. btw, I got this off sprint.com as an ‘official accessory’(and also ‘sprint tested’) when buying the palm pre. I will never again buy an official accessory from sprint until I have looked at all other options first.
