bell-logoIn a refreshing, consumer-conscious move, Bell has just announced a new smartphone data plan that should have smartphone users in Canada collectively rejoicing. Bell is now offering a 1GB smartphone data plan for just CDN $45, and the kicker is that Bell is allowing users to tether their smartphone using this data plan!

The new 1GB smartphone data/tethering plan includes, well, 1GB of monthly data. Bell will charge you 3 cents per additional MB, which isn’t too pricey. But, should you roam in the US, you’ll be paying CDN $6 for every single MB of data that you pull down south of the border.

It’s good to see carriers offering cheaper smartphone data plans with smartphone tethering included. With a little luck, we’ll see carriers offering cheaper data rates and more lenient tethering policies in the near future. Mobile road warriors, your day has come!
