During the CTIA in Las Vegas, Opera Software announced the new version of its popular mobile web browser – Opera Mobile 9.7. At that point, we thought they are talking about a Windows Mobile version, exclusively. Now, we have a hint from the company’s blog that they are working on a Symbian S60 version, too. Here’s what they say:
With regards to Symbian S60, I can only tell you that we’re working on it.. but I’ll also add that it’s really awesome, and we can’t wait to let you guys play with it.
Hear that? They are saying it’s “awesome.” From what I can tell, this means that it will compete head to head with Nokia’s great Webkit-based S60 browser. Guess they’ll sell Opera Mobile’s “Turbo” capabilities along with improved UI and Google Gears support. Can’t wait to give it a try.
