Samsung S8000 to Pack Android

Samsung had officially acknowledged that they would be putting out three Android handsets this year, and we had seen some blurry hints of the first, but now we’ve got a clear view of the second: the S8000. The specifications, as leaked by Russian reseller Euroset, are:
- 3.1″ AMOLED WVGA touchscreen
- 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash
- FM radio + RDS
- 2 GB internal memory and microSD slot
- 3.5 mm headphone jack3G, Wi-Fi, aGPS
- 12mm thick
- DivX andXviD support
- 3D UI (S-Class?)
Considering the European source, we might not be seeing this one in North America any time soon, but for those on the other side of the pond, the preorder price was set at 470 euros before the S8000 was taken down. It looks like a very sleek device – borrowing that cube-ish home button from the Ultra Touch was a good move.

Update: This might be one of those “lost in translation” scenarios that tend to crop up when you rely on Google (NSDQ: GOOG) as your interpreter – odds are the S8000 will have Samsung’s usual, interface and not run Android.

Samsung S5800 IS NOT Android phone.
GSM Arena got that wrong from the Google Czech translation which said that “it might be Android phone, but more likely will run on upgraded TouchWiz. The Russian site where info originaly appeared did not mention Android at all.
S5800 has a new Cube based 3D interface. Probably along the lines of this one:

Thanks for the correction!
This phone looks great. I plan to take it, but my concern is divx codec. Does it support all divx files? I had bad experience with divx codecs on previous phones, since I had to convert files.
