First off you should NOT be using this, and Geo-hot and the dev team should be the ones to get credit for discovering the exploit!

The best reason not to use this, is because FuzzyBand is available in Cydia and even works on 3.1 iPhones. (It's the BEST Downgrader you will find)

Another good reason is because this script pH Created was a fast solution and poorly done. I created a much better script after testing this one before it was released to the public but DHowett and w1kedz were on the same track as me only their script had a very nice gui.

Also DownBB was released before pHasebanddowngrader.

BigBoss had helped to create a GUI version of pH's script which you can likely still find on CYDIA, but the script is still lacking some important features so I highly advise against its use.

Here is the source of pH's script.
launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
./BBUpdaterExtreme update -f ICE2_02.28.00.fls -e ICE2_02.28.00.eep
First mistake in my opinion was not setting the permissions for BBUpdaterExtreme. (chmod 755 BBUpdaterExtreme)
The second was not re-enabling the commcenter.
And while I could go on, I see no point as this is a very old post and as I said, USE FUZZYBAND!
It can even upgrade your baseband to 04.26.08 wich is still exploitable.

GOOD NEWS!!
For those of you who, just like me waited SOOO long with a locked IPhone 3G, here’s the solution. No matter your bootloader or your baseband version, follow the steps indicated in the link below :
http://www.sizlopedia.com/2009/06/23/download-ultrasnow-unlock-iphone-3g-on-firmware-30/

As of now 3G is unlockable with yellowsnoe IF 2.28 and 2.30, BUT if you are running 2.30 you have to either upgrade from 2.28 to 2.30 preserving the bootloader 5.8. Otherwize you have to use Ulocking sim for 2.30bb 5.9. and 6.2
