Gadget Show Live 2009: Gtrek II

Gtrek were one of the smaller vendors showing their wares at the Gadget Show Live 2009 – but they did bring something cool with them – the Gtrek II! What is it, you might ask? Well:

Gtrek monitors your movement and allows you to create a highly detailed graphical record of where you have been.

Perfect for skiers,bikers, golfers and other outdoor enthusiasts, the product uses GPS satellite technology and records the users’ exact position at specific intervals, to build up a picture of movement.

This can include how far, how fast and how high the user has travelled. Better still, the product comes with software to allow you to see where you’ve been using Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Earth’s topographical mapping, or Google Map™ or Memory Map™.

So basically a GPS recorder – rather than a Sat Nav which focuses on where you are going, this devices concentrates on where you have been – neat-o! Primary applications were for skiers, and those hiking – but there are probably a ton more. The device retails for a very reasonable £99.99 (inc. postage) normally, but there was an offer at the Gadget Show Live 2009…
