Dubai Public Prosecution launches SMS service

Again and again, we enjoy hearing stories involving mobile technologies usage in everyday’s lives. That said, we’re glad to report that as part of its e-government efforts, the Dubai Public Prosecution (DPP) has recently launched a new SMS service for both the general public, as well as lawyers and prosecutors, to enable them to find out details of specific cases.
At present, the new service is limited to the Judiciary and Public Prosecution areas but is expected to expand to other government authorities in the future. The cost of using it is AED 60 per SMS, which is not much considering the convenience.
Commenting on the announcement, Dubai’s Attorney General, Isam Isa Al Humaidan, said: “This move is the beginning of a new phase in the provision of judicial services in view of its role in facilitating legal procedures, reducing the time taken and minimizing general costs, which contribute to strengthening the national economy and promoting social development in Dubai and the UAE in general.”

I’m living in Dubai for work. Just a bit of correction when the sms charge is mentioned. It is not AED 60(about 15-20$USD), infact the charge in the pdf is AED 0.60 which amounts to roughly 25cents in the USA.
‘Fils’ is Dubai equivalent of ‘Cents/Pennies”
