WeFi gets a Fring add-on to allow users access to millions of WiFi hotspots

WeFi, the company behind the first open community-based global Wi-Fi network, and Fring launched the WeFi add-on for Fring to give users mobile access to the database of 20 million WiFi hotspots around the world.

If you need to pick one Fring add-on to install, this is the one. That’s in case you’re travelling often or just from time to time. Scrap that, you could use this add-on even in your own city!

According the press release, WeFi’s database grows by over 1 million new hotspots per month, leaving you tons of options, wherever you’re traveling.

As for the bad news, at this stage, the new add-on is for Symbian and Windows Mobile devices, only. What this means is that iPhone Fring users are not included in the plan. The problem is that the iPhone version doesn’t support add-ons, something Fring will certainly tackle once the iPhone 3.0 firmware goes live.
