Follow-up: Silent Scope for iPhone/iPod Touch plays well!

Following up on a post I wrote earlier about the relase of Silent Scope for the iPhone / iPod Touch, I’ve just been doing some play testing!

About the only difference between the Mobile version and the Arcade is the lack of the 8 ft. high cabinet and 2/3 size sniper rifle! Other than that, it’s a faithful arcade conversion!

The download did take forever and day, so be prepared for that – but I’d imagine there’s some graphical weight to the game – all the funky arcade sounds are there too! Moving on to the game, anyone who played the arcade machine will remember the stress of stepping between zoom in and zoom out, and getting those targets lined up – this game works in a similar way, with a countdown timer pressuring you all the way….

These kind of on-the-rail shooter games were very popular back in the day, and another of my then-faves, Time Crisis, was recently converted too – but I’d have to say that Silent Scope is a more authentic conversion, and just edges it – though both games are great fun.

Overall, I’d rate this game highly – coming in at £3.49 in the UK App Store, it was going to have to be good to compete with the plethora of free games – and fortunately it is very good retro-tastic fun – all in the palm (NSDQ: PALM) of your hand!
