Vopium has a new iPhone app, ready to compete head to head with other VoIP over WiFi solutions. Their trick seems to be in the familiar, easy to use interface, which almost perfectly mimics iPhone’s Phone app (pictured above) and uses the existing address book. Moreover, in order to entice users to download their application, Vopium is bundling it with 30 minutes of free calls and 30 text messages, which is kinda cool.
Standard VoIP pitch remains unchanged, though – with application like this, you can save up to 90% on traditional international mobile and landline calls. Sending SMS with Vopium is also cheaper, if you’re texting abroad — a single SMS sent costs only 0.09 GBP.
Aside from iPhone, Vopium is available on other platforms, as well — including Java, Symbian, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile. You check their rates from a dedicated page on Vopium’s website. AppStore link is here.
