Is it a sign of times or just HTC’s idea to expand its market share? Whatever the reasoning, it seems the famous smartphone maker will come up with its first feature phone later in the year. According to DigiTimes, the Taiwan-based company will unveil such a device in Q4 2009. The report goes on, suggesting HTC will make a high-end, Internet-enabled feature phone, which will rely on Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM)’s BREW Mobile Platform. Moreover, the device will be multimedia capable and will come with an array of Flash applications.
It’s still early and all we can do is speculate at this stage. The way I see it, HTC could make a hit with an affordable touch-enable device, something that would remind on some existing Samsung and LG models. We’ll certainly keep watching for any mobile news coming out from Taiwan. Stay tuned…
