The head of Acer’s smart handheld business group, Aymar de Lencquesaing, said that Acer expects its smartphone shipments to surpass one million in 2010. Moreover, he added they plan to conquer 6-7% of the market in three years, and that he sees smartphones accounting for 10% of the company’s total sales in 2011. That said, Acer’s so goal is to become one of the top five smartphone makers in the world in 2012.
Optimism is a good thing and I guess an array of WinMo smartphones launched during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, as well as the rumored upcoming Android handset will certainly help the Taiwan-based company reach its goals. We’re certainly looking forward for another strong competitor in the marketplace.
