Italy TIM to offer the Nokia N97 for 599 EUR

Adding the HTC Magic is obviously not enough for Italy’s TIM. They decided to follow the footsteps of Vodafone by including the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N97 in their offering, too. The problem, however, is the price — HTC Magic will be available for 449 EUR, while Nokia’s flagship device will be sold for whooping 150 EUR more. If we would compare the two devices in an “apples to apples” manner, that would mean that QWERTY keyboard costs 150 EUR, which is kinda ridiculous. On the other hand, we’re talking about two different platforms, each having its loyal followers.

Finally, I’m guessing the current steep price is for hard-core Nokia fanboys and will go down with the time. We’ll see…

Apples to apples you say???I hope this is a joke. Beacause with my average knowledge on moie phones and from information coming many times from your site I can say that the extra 150 euros buy you a qwerty keybord, a 3,5mm jack, stereo speakers, 32Gb of memory, a larger screen with double resolution and approximatelly 15,945,000 more colors…mmmm…bluetooth with A2DP, a better camera with a little thing called a flash, video at a double frame rate, assisted GPS and….it comes in black

And yes I am a nokia funboy but still I try to read specs and not hate devices. That is why I will wait for the SonyEricsson Idou.

But reading that the n97 is an HTC magic with a qwerty keybord has to be the worst comment I have ever read on this site.

Apples for apples…since I can’t think that there is even one HTC funboy in the civilised world(they tend to be more serious people like my father for e.g) I can only assume that the comment is made from another type of funboy???

    Apples for apples…tststs

You’re right, my bad. The point was I didn’t wanted to compare the two devices. For one thing, I hate Nokia for using resistive rather than capacitive touchscreen. :(
