Sony Ericsson W995a passes the FCC hurdle, too!

Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) W995’s North American counterpart, W995a, has been spotted at the FCC’s website, too. What this means is that all the testing required for the U.S. market is done and that the Swedish-Japanese handset maker is ready to start selling its high-end music device in the States. The problem is that no carrier partners are announced to date, but my feeling is that they’re in the midst of negotiations with AT&T (NYSE: T) and possibly Canada’s Rogers (NYSE: RCI) Wireless. All the right bands are there — WCDMA “playing” at 850 and 1900 MHz — meaning this baby can sing along the two carriers’ 3G networks; not to mentioned the 8 megapixel camera and other goodies found under the hood of the W995/W995a.
I guess once the agreement is reached with them, it’s all about the timing. Summer sounds like a great time to release a music phone, right?
