Canadians rejoice! Finally an official announcement from a carrier regarding the Palm Pre. Earlier today, Bell became the first Canadian carrier to announce they will carry the Palm Pre. Of course, no launch date or pricing details are available at the moment… But still, it’s encouraging to see a Canadian carrier make an announcement like this, at least we’re starting to move in the right direction.

Of much interest as well, it looks like Bell has landed an exclusive deal, which would leave the other 2 Canadian heavyweights Telus and Rogers out of the deal. Very interesting indeed. Look for the Pre to begin shipping on Bell in the second half of this year… But you already knew that right?

The only unfortunate thing about this news, is some Canadians may be left in the dark. Bell Mobility does not service some parts of the country, including my province (Manitoba). I can get Bell ‘Internet Enhancements’ and TV services, but sadly no mobile. Manitoba isn’t the only province/territory alone in this, so I certainly hope Bell get their act together and open up in these areas. Share the Pre love Bell, please.

Great! They usually carry a 3 year contract right? This should help palm reach the 1 million number quicly!

As a Saskatchewanian with Telus service I too am disappointed that Palm would choose a carrier that doesn’t offer any service to the Western half of the country.

  • Jimmy

Bill McMinn, you have posted your concern on many different websites, yet you are incorrect in your assertion that Bell doesn’t provide service to Western Canada. I assure you that Bell Mobility has coverage across the country.

  • Dan

    Jimmy,

Bell does not have any coverage at all in Saskatchewan or Manitoba.
