Gameloft to make a mobile game based on the upcoming Sherlock Holmes film

Gameloft has recently announced a worldwide licensing agreement with Warner Bros Digital Distribution to “develop, publish and distribute the mobile game” for the upcoming blockbuster Sherlock Holmes, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Robert Downey, Jr (Sherlock Holmes) and Jude Law (Dr. Watson). The game is scheduled for release prior to the U.S. theatrical release on Christmas Day 2009.

Although we don’t have a single screenshot to share, we do know that the mobile game will follow the film’s storyline, which sees Sherlock bringing down a new nemesis and unraveling a deadly plot that could destroy England.

Commenting on the announcement, Gameloft’s Gonzague de Vallois said: “Sherlock Holmes is a household name spanning multiple countries and languages. To have this story updated as a modern action film by such premier talent will make the story of Sherlock Holmes more relevant than ever. We are confident our powerhouse development team will capture the spirit of the film for fans and gamers alike.”
