Walmart to Carry the Palm Pre?

It wouldn’t be a Monday morning for me without some little bit of Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre news… Thankfully when I started reading this morning this little gem popped out at me. Turns out that Walmart has mentioned (via the Wall Street Journal) that they plan to sell the Palm Pre, amidst a huge expansion of its electronics section.

This would only lead me to believe that Palm are trying to gear up, and push out the Pre at the same 3rd party retailers as Apple (NSDQ: AAPL). Smart move. Best Buy and Walmart are the only 3rd party retailers currently stocking the iPhone, and it looks like Palm wants to match them step for step. Surely they must be thinking to themselves ‘when consumers have a chance to compare the iPhone side-by-side with the Pre… they’ll choose the Pre’.

Lets hope for Palm’s sake that the hunch is right. If nothing else, making the Pre available in more locations has got to be a good thing… right?
