iphone 3g oled New iPhone Due to Land July 17 With Glowy Logo?We had heard a few juicy tidbits of the next generation of iPhone earlier this month, but now we’ve got some confirmation and other details, including, but not limited to, a glowing Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) logo on the back. Ooo. Aaaah. Here’s the full list of supposed features:

  • Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
  • Apple logo on the back to light up
  • Rubber-tread backing
  • Sleeker design
  • 32GB and 16GB to replace current capacities
  • $199 and $299 price-points to be maintained
  • 3.2 Megapixel camera
  • Video recording & editing capabilities
  • Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
  • OLED screen
  • 1.5X the battery life
  • Double the RAM and processing power
  • Built-in FM transmitter
  • Built-in compass
  • Revolutionary combination of the camera, GPS, compass, and Google (NSDQ: GOOG) maps to identify photo and inform about photo locations
  • Turn by turn directions

It’s hard to argue with an upgraded screen, better battery life and a beefier processor. It sounds like the form factor itself isn’t going to change, so we might be able to put those iPhone Nano rumours to bed (again). If the July 17th. release date actually pans out, it seems likely that Apple will announce the device at WWDC, which is coming up soon.

FM Transmitter? Interesting… Still no FM tuning I take it!

I’m looking forward to all the new upgrades to the new iPhone, but before I can be certain I will pick one up, will it be a better cell phone? I mean, after all, it is a cell phone. My iPhone 3G has some of the most inconsistent signal I’ve ever experienced in a cell phone. It’s amazing for email and web browsing, and its interface in the native music app is simply fantastic. These features keep me with my iPhone 3G, but it’s a subpar cellular telephone overall. They have got to improve on that. I honestly never know whether I’m going to be able to successfully complete a call without it dropping the call. It’s not ATT’s fault, because I’ll be in full 3G with bars all over the place…
