Japan 3G

When you live in Japan, it’s only natural to use your 3G connection on a daily basis. That said, we were not surprised to learn that as of April 2009, there are more than 100 million 3G subscribers in the Land of the rising Sun.

Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM) shared this news with the world adding they are very proud of its regional collaborations and its role in helping to expand 3G CDMA in Japan. “We look forward to working even more closely with our partners to reach the next industry milestone,” Qualcomm Japan’s Jun Yamada said.

For the record, it all started with NTT DoCoMo (NYSE: DCM) which launched its 3G network in October of 2001, and was closely followed by KDDI in April 2002, and Softbank (OTCPK: SFTBF) Mobile in December of the same year.
