Yep, I went there…..c’mon now, I want to know – how many of your fiddle with your equipment whilst on the loo?!
Get your minds out of the gutter just for a minute – I was actually referring to things like making and taking calls, texting, writing emails, and suchlike – on your mobile, whilst also ‘handling business’ on the porcelain chair!
A few ‘mates’ of mine (and I use the term loosely) have commented that they often will do their email checking, and texting whilst on the loo – and it made me think – could this be a wider trend? I suppose it’s 5-10 minutes (?) where you have nothing better to do, and perhaps you can fill your time with something productive, whilst your other ‘production’ is going on!
Anyways, hit us up with a comment if you do it – I bet there are more secret ‘toilet texters’ than anyone might first think….!
About The Author
Ben Robinson
Ben is a 10+ year veteran of the Mobile industry – starting his career
when SMS was a still a relatively new concept for most people (!), he has
now consulted on everything from bleeding-edge Mobile content, to the
next-gen accessories you might view it on. As a result he has a broad and deep knowledge in numerous areas of Mobile – from network operators to device vendors, to infrastructure and middleware vendors (not to mention content delivery) – and has worked for companies in all of these areas!
He is based in the UK, a hotbed of activity for mobile, and recently
became a father for the second time – as oppose to in his younger years
when he was happy spend time tweaking all manner of mobile devices to
'nth' degree, he now looks for services and hardware that provide the most efficient, compact, and reliable improvements to his already manic life! It’s his opinion that Mobile solutions should be there to help to make
your life better – if a particular solution (be it service or device)
isn’t doing this, he believes you need to ask the very important question
of why you continue to use it...
His focus at IntoMobile is mainly on Mobile content, services, and
infrastructure, particularly as regards the UK market – and with the
occasional look at devices. Additionally, using his extensive experience
in the industry, he will provide commentary on the industry at large, with
regular (and hopefully thought-provoking) articles.

I tend to bring both my phone and Nintendo DS while I’m taking care of business as I never know what mood I’ll be in while I’m in there. Sometimes I’ll twitter some things I did that day, others I’ll play a game and have my legs go numb as I tend to lose track of time while playing.
Lowey
I do all the time!!!, Texting, emailing, twittering. saves so much time in the long term!

I use the time to read my RSS feeds, since I read Into Mobile via RSS… where do you think I am right now?
Think about that next time you write an article.

I’ve seen posts like these at least 5 or 6 times over the last few months and am baffled that this is a surprise to anyone. we’ve all taken a book or a newspaper to the toilet so this seems like a natural progression that does not surprise me at all. To anyone who reads ebooks, reads their feeds or the newspaper on a device should find this natural, shouldn’t they? To extend it to reading and even answering emails seems obvious to me, no?

Yes, all the time. My BlackBerry comes with me to the loo. About 50% of the time I write messages on it. The other 50%, I’m playing brickbreaker
