Actually, we’d already known that the Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre can put on a smile and get along with rival smartphone maker Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s iTunes software. But, we had no idea the WebOS-powered Palm Pre would sync seamlessly with your desktop computer through iTunes and iPhoto. Today we have confirmation that the Palm Pre will indeed sync all non-DRM’d songs to your Palm Pre as well as sync up with iPhoto.
When plugged into a computer’s USB port, the Palm Pre will offer three distinct options: charging mode, mass storage mode, or “Media Sync” mode. Charging mode should be quite self-explanatory. Mass storage mode will turn your Palm Pre into a flash drive for portable data storage. But, the gem is the “Media Sync” mode that essentially turns your Palm Pre into an Apple-recognized smartphone capable of syncing songs and photos from iTunes and iPhoto, respectively. Media Sync essentially allows your Palm Pre to masquerade as an official Apple device, allowing it to talk to Apple’s iTunes and iPhoto software.
So, iTunes and iPhoto fans take note. The iPhone is not the only handset that can play nice with your favorite media and photo manager. Still, it’s not yet clear if Apple will issue future software updates aimed at shutting the iTunes-door on Palm.

That’s solid news… one more reason for me to pick up the Pre… Not that I needed another reason
