Electricpig.co.uk have been hard at work, and got a hands-on with the Viewty Smart – a successor of sorts to the very-successful Viewty that LG released some time back now. The device is going on sale this month, and boasts an 8MP sensor in the camera – nice!

Apparently, and in fact like the Viewty, this is not a smartphone – instead it uses the fixed O/S which LG calls the S-Class – this doesn’t for a second mean the UI doesn’t look nice, it just doesn’t have some of the flexibility (and processing wow factor) you might expect in the average smartphone today. Having said that of course, this is a camera-phone in the truest sense of the word – and that is what it is optimised for!

The Viewty Smart (so-called I guess because of the amount of picture-processing power on board) has a whole series of clever tricks and sensors to give you the best pics – even face detection, a feature that hasn’t long been on digital cameras proper. There’s even some editing software on-board the device to let you take out imperfections in your pics (well actually in your subjects’ faces…). Suffice to say this is a CAMERA-phone, and it would seem that people buying it are not going to be disappointed in that respect!
